It's the end of the year!

Academic year 2021-2022: a round up

What a year! It's been our first year being properly back open after the Covid-19 pandemic and we can't believe how quickly it's flown by - it's hard to believe we've already finished for the summer!

We're so impressed that, after a year and a half of inconsistency, our students threw themselves back into their lessons, and even managed to remember the steps to their exercises and dances. It's been brilliant to have you all back.

Here is our summary of a wonderful year at BKSOD:

  • We had a school photoshoot with a professional photographer, where our students absolutely shone and got some stunning photos!

  • At Christmas, we had 3 students taking tap and 11 taking modern exams.

  • Miss Amy, our tap and modern teacher had her baby boy, Henry!

  • At Easter, we had 26 students taking ballet exams, 3 of whom finished their Grade 8!

  • Our jazz theatre students got to learn choreography from Rumi: The Musical, which is a new musical that featured our jazz theatre teacher and ex-student Zara. As well as this, they have learned routines to music from Dear Evan Hansen, Legally Blonde, Little Shop of Horrors, In the Heights, The Addams Family and Footloose!

  • At the end of Summer term, we had 7 students taking tap exams, 11 taking modern exams and a whopping 30 taking ballet exams.

  • And lastly, we said goodbye to one of our oldest students who, after many, many years of dancing with us is now off to uni. She went out with bang, finishing her Grade 8 ballet, Grade 6 tap and Grade 6 modern exams this academic year, as well as 4 A Levels!! We're wishing her all the best for the future and can't wait to see her when she comes back to visit.

We cannot thank our students and their parents enough for their continued support, and for choosing to return to us after the pandemic. We appreciate every one of you and are so unbelievably happy that we can continue running our school and doing what we love! Have a fantastic summer, and we'll see you all soon.
